Title:	Scrutiny Review of Pothole Management (November 2023) - Pothole Management Review Update
Purpose:	To provide an update on the Scrutiny Review of Pothole Management recommendations.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Note the updates to the pothole review recommendations contained in the Appendix to the report.

1 Background Information

1.1 The Place Scrutiny Committee continues to act as a critical friend to East Sussex Highways service identifying areas of review, improvement, and note areas of success.

1.2 On 23 January 2024, the outcome of the Place Scrutiny review of pothole management was presented to the County Councils Cabinet and thirteen recommendations were ratified. Twelve recommendations have now been completed and one is ongoing to be completed this calendar year (2025).

1.3 Please see Appendix 1 for an update on each recommendation.

2 Supporting Information

2.1 The completion of Action R1 in Appendix One (development and implementation of a drainage strategy) has been delayed due to the requirement for a full stakeholder consultation and Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA). This process is currently underway, with responses expected to be fully collated by spring 2025. The plan is scheduled for presentation to the Lead Member in July 2025.

3 Conclusion and Reasons for Recommendations

3.1 Once Action R1 is complete later this year, the final update report will be presented to the Place Scrutiny Committee.
